During Monday’s game against the New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings forward Brendan Lemieux received a five-minute major and game misconduct for hitting Ryan Lindgren from behind.

Just one year ago, Lemieux was teammates with Lindgren. However, their history didn’t stop Lemieux from throwing this kind of hit. Following the play, Lindgren was livid and immediately went after him. It’s safe to say that the former teammates aren’t too happy with one another at this juncture.

Lemieux has been disciplined by NHL Player Safety already this season after biting Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk’s hand during a scrum. Now, it’s certainly possible that he once again could be for this kind of hit. His history and reputation won’t do him any favors, but at the same time, one could also argue that Lindgren turned his back before it. Either way, it will be up to NHL Player Safety to decide what’s next in store for the winger.

The Rangers would go on to defeat the Kings in the shootout by a 3-2 final score. With this, they now have a 28-11-4 record, while the Kings have fallen to 21-16-6.
