What’s new in College Hockey:

USA Hockey has announced the roster for the 2023 IIHF Women’s World U18 Championship, which will take place January 8-15 in Ostersund, Sweden.

It’s a short turnaround from the 2022 tournament, which took place this past June in Madison, Wisconsin after being rescheduled due to Covid, giving the US a quick opportunity to avenge their loss to Canada in that tournament’s gold medal game.

Six skaters along with goalie Annelies Bergmann return from the 2022 roster for the United States. Holy Cross head coach Katie Lachapelle also returns as head coach of the team.

In the 14-year history of the tournament, the United States leads with eight gold medals to six for Canada, but retaking gold will be a difficult task for the Americans this year. The Canadians swept the US rather convincingly, winning all three games of their U18 Summer Series showcase event this past August.
