“I got to go over to my parents’ house for dinner,” said the Markham, Ont. native, who not too long ago came close to signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. “So that’s different. haven’t ever done that on the road in the playoffs before. Home-cooked meal. That’s the best … It is always nice to come home.”
Add it to the list of recent accomplishments that Stamkos has been compiling lately.
Though he won his first of two Rocket Richard Trophies in just his second season in the league and reached the 60-goal mark in Year 4, the veteran centre has been a late-bloomer of sorts. It wasn’t until two years ago that he finally got Tampa Bay over the hump and hoisted the Stanley Cup, which he did again last season. And though he’s come close in the past, it wasn’t until last week that he finally hit the 100-point mark in a single season.
