New York Rangers centre Ryan Strome (16) faces off against Ottawa Senators left wing Brady Tkachuk (7) in the second period at the Canadian Tire Centre, Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022.

Some Ottawa Senators will get their first chance to experience it this weekend.

The Senators will kick off back-to-back games with a visit to Madison Square Garden to face the New York Rangers, and there should be no shortage of excitement for those who haven’t played in the rink before.

“The Rangers are battling for first place tomorrow,” veteran defenceman Michael Del Zotto said Friday before the club left for New York. “Saturday night at MSG is going to be full of a lot of energy.

“For some of the guys that haven’t experienced it, it’ll be a fun environment to play in.”

The 31-year-old Del Zotto knows the rink better than most. He was drafted No. 20 overall by the Rangers in 2008, he spent the first four years of his career with New York, and there still are a lot of familiar faces around the rink.
