Sutter shuffled his combos for Saturday’s clash with the Vancouver Canucks and his squad responded in a big way, rolling to a 5-2 rout of their regional rivals.

While Johnny Gaudreau, Elias Lindholm and Matthew Tkachuk have formed one of the most dangerous lines in the league this season, the marquee men have been a little quiet of late.

That prompted Saturday’s shakeup. Gaudreau and Lindholm remained together but with Tyler Toffoli on the right wing, while Tkachuk was skating alongside Mikael Backlund and Dillon Dube.

“Lindy and Johnny and Matthew, other than one game in Carolina, they’ve played together every game this year,” Sutter reminded reporters in Vancouver. “You know what? Sometimes, I think you just have to freshen it up a little bit. It can get a little stale.
