What’s new in the NHL:

Sidney Crosby and Tristan Jarry

Kim Klement Neitzel-USA TODAY Sports

On Nov. 30, Tristan Jarry handled the puck off a dump-in and immediately took the chance to shoot it toward the empty net at the other end of the rink. He scored the first goalie goal in Pittsburgh Penguins history, the second among any NHL netminder in 2023 and the third since 2013.

And yet, in most fantasy hockey leagues, it was worth nothing.

Fantasy hockey experts Jason Chen and Michael Amato brought up the goal in the Dec. 4 episode of The Hockey News Sleepers and Keepers podcast and discussed if it should be worth something and, if so, how much. They also factored in goalie assists and whether game-winning goals and shorthanded points should be counted.
