Saturday’s matinee between the New York Islanders and Seattle Kraken has been officially postponed. It isn’t due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, though. Instead, it’s been postponed due to the snowstorm currently hitting Long Island.

This isn’t all that surprising to hear. Long Island is expected to get up to a foot of snow on Saturday. Furthermore, it is expected to bring about blizzard conditions due to its high winds. Needless to say, with that kind of snow accumulation, it does make traveling very challenging.

The NHL has also already rescheduled the contest between these two teams. It will take place on Wednesday, February 2nd at 7:00 PM. With this, it will be the first time the Islanders have faced the Kraken in franchise history. They also will be seeing old friend Jordan Eberle in the process, too.

Nevertheless, this was an understandable decision by the NHL.
