Brandon Gignac tied the series at a game apiece when he scored at 18:13 of the third period to give the Rocket a 3-2 win over the Crunch on Saturday at Upstate Medical University Arena.
Goaltender Cayden Primeau turned in an outstanding performance in his AHL playoff debut. The 22-year-old made 37 saves, including 12 while the Rocket was killing penalties. The Crunch power play went 0-for-5.
The Rocket power play wet 1-for-4 with Jesse Ylonen scoring with the extra man. He also assisted on Gignac’s game-winner.
Alex Belzile scored the other Laval goal, his third of the playoffs after he scored twice in Friday’s 5-3 loss.
Simon Ryfors and Daniel Walcott scored for Syracuse.
The series moves to Place Bell for the next two games, Thursday night and Saturday afternoon. If a fifth game is needed, it will be played in Syracuse on May 17.
