And so it is that Savoie, the second-most talked about Oilers prospect winger after Dylan Holloway, is joining the Bakersfield Condors on Thursday to start his next journey.
For now, the 20-year is on an amateur tryout with the American Hockey League farm team but he will be signing a two-year entry-level Oilers contract at a later date, bringing his scoring to the table after he finished fourth in the NCAA this season with 23 goals.
It was a thorny decision to leave Denver two years into his time there, but Savoie, the Oilers fourth-round draft steal in 2019, says the move to pro wasn’t because Denver reached the NCAA pinnacle with their win over Minnesota State, and there’s nothing left to prove as a team when that happens.
