How sweet was this? Ex-Oilers forward Sam Gagner tied his father Dave for career NHL games, playing 946, against his old club Tuesday night. And he scored late in the second period to move him four points from 500.

Dave, 57, now works as a player agent for Wasserman Hockey (Evan Bouchard, Jordan Kyrou, Nick Suzuki are clients). Sam’s represented by another Wasserman agent Jeff Jackson (Connor McDavid, Aaron Ekblad).

“This is a special thing, I don’t play one game in this league without his support,” said Sam, who was 10 years old when Dave had his last NHL kick at the can with the Vancouver Canucks in 1999. “This is something our family cherishes for sure. We still talk a lot but I have a different perspective now. I have three kids (six, four and two) of my own.”
