According to Frank Seravalli, the Detroit Red Wings could be traded before the deadline passes.

Seravalli noted that Zadina’s playing time has fallen off significantly compared to just last season. Furthermore, the 2018 sixth-overall pick has been healthy scratched this season, while he also has seen time on the first line. When it comes to the latter, that could have been a situation of the Red Wings showcasing the young forward.

When the Red Wings drafted Zadina, he was viewed as a future star for them. However, at this juncture, the 22-year-old has yet to take any noticeable step forward in his development. With prospects like Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider already emerging as top talents in the league, Detroit could be losing patience with the 22-year-old.

After recording 15 points in 28 games for the Red Wings during the 2019-20 season, he has had trouble replicating that pace of production. In 52 games this season, he has seven goals, 10 assists, and a notable minus-20 rating. This kind of play wasn’t what the Red Wings were hoping for from him this season.

Alas, with Zadina’s slow development and a significant drop in playing time, it does seem possible that the Red Wings will move him. Time will tell if Seravalli’s prediction comes to fruition.
