At around 7:30 a.m. that day, police believe a fight involving the suspect and two other individuals broke out outside the entrance to an apartment building. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly grabbed a handgun and fired, the police said. A projectile hit the French window of a nearby apartment, shattering it. A person who was inside the apartment at the time was not injured. The suspect fled the scene in a car a few minutes after the shot, the police said.
The police said they arrested Daniel Khet, 29, on May 10. He appeared in court the next day and was charged with, among other things, having intentionally discharged a fireman in the direction of a place knowing there was a person present or without caring whether a person was present. The police said Khet will remain incarcerated until the next stage of legal proceedings.
