Leafs Nation was in full panic mode on Monday night after Toronto Maple Leafs superstar Auston Matthews went down in the third period against the Carolina Hurricanes. At the time it looked like a head injury as he was kneed accidently by ‘Canes defenseman Brett Pesce, but word is it’s not as bad as we thought.
Matthews was not a participant at Leafs practice on Tuesday but that was to be expected as he had a scheduled day off. His head coach Sheldon Keefe spoke to the media briefly and provided everyone with the latest news:
Keefe on Matthews: “There was a pretty good sense, not right away necessarily, but by the time he left, that it wasn’t going to necessarily be a head injury, so that had us feeling pretty good. With the nature of the hit … you’re going to continue to be cautious …”@TSN_Edge
