“I’m disappointed that we lost tonight, but if you look at the circumstances it was a tough day,” St. Louis said after the Canadiens dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to the Boston Bruins Monday night at the Bell Centre.
The Canadiens played the Bruins to a standstill for 60 minutes before Brad Marchand scored his second goal of the game 34 seconds into overtime. That brought the curtain down on an emotional day that saw the Canadiens trade Brett Kulak, Artturi Lehkonen and goaltender Andrew Hammond.
“I know it’s a tough day for the players, but with my short experience I can say it’s also a tough day for the coach,” St. Louis said. “I love my players, and I’ve developed working relationships with guys like Lehkonen, Kulak and Hammond — and even when Benny (Chiarot) was gone — so it’s hard. And there you are playing a game. We spoke before the meeting, and the guys offered a very good effort.
