After two days of public visitations at the Bell Centre, a national funeral will be held for Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur on Tuesday.

The service will be held at Mary Queen of the World Cathedral, on René-Lévesque Blvd., at 11 a.m.

A funeral procession will leave the Bell Centre at 10:30 a.m., from the corner of de la Montagne St. and Canadiens-de-Montréal Ave., before heading toward the cathedral.

Once the funeral begins, there will be designated spaces for the general public outside the cathedral. Large screens will be erected to allow people to follow the service.

The question of whether a national funeral would be held in Lafleur’s honour was raised shortly after his death from lung cancer, at age 70, on April 22.
