There was talk about Tom Brady’s return from retirement and Cameron Smith’s victory at the Tour Championship.
Only a couple of hours later, though, Jean passed away.
“It was very tough last night,” Denis said in a telephone interview from his home in Florida. “He had been battling a long time, almost three years. He came down to Florida for a liver transplant. It was just one thing after another.”
Jean Potvin was 72 and is survived by wife, Lorraine, along with children Kim, Leslie and Justin, and two grandchildren.
He also leaves behind a lifetime of memories for the kid brother, on and off the ice, dating back to the brothers’ days growing up together in Overbrook.
“He loved Ottawa, just like I do. It goes way back to the Ottawa 67’s.”
