The Philadelphia Flyers sit near the bottom of the eastern conference with a record of 15-22-8 as we enjoy all-star weekend. Their all-star captain Claude Giroux has been the focal point of trade rumors for the Flyers as the veteran forward has a no-movement clause and is a pending free agent who is drawing a ton of interest before the trade deadline.
Giroux admitted he’s heard the noise and had this to say on the matter when asked in Vegas:
Claude Giroux, on what the March 21 trade deadline might bring for him: “A lot of time left. That’s all I have for you.”

The Flyers have played 45 games and are 17 points behind the Boston Bruins for the second wild card, there’s certainly not a lot of time for Philadelphia to make a playoff push. That ship has sailed and Giroux seems content with waiting it out to see what offers are presented in front of him.
So far this season he’s been one of the only bright spots for the Flyers as the Hearst, Ontario native has recorded 35 points in 42 games. Giroux can do it all and could certainly put a team over the top. The Colorado Avalanche are looking for a right-handed shot forward for their top six and could fit him in under their cap. The New York Rangers have also been linked, same with the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Expect the noise to continue and ramp up as we creep closer to March 21 trade deadline. Giroux’s going to have a number of different teams to pick from and his 86th career Stanley Cup playoff game will likely be in colors different than black and orange.
