Evander Kane was his big add to play with Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl for a couple of million with no assets going out the door. Marc-Andre Fleury would have been a great get if he wanted to play here, but he doesn’t.
So, Holland, who has $1.704 million in cap space today, whose team is in the playoffs in the Pacific, but realistically, isn’t in the same league as mighty Colorado in the West, will be nibbling around the edges for an experienced, big, defensive defenceman.
Everybody wants that of course, and Holland doesn’t have a lot to deal with, maybe prospect Dmitry Samorukov or a draft pick with William Lagesson’s $750,000 cap hit likely moving to Bakersfield.
Holland has his warrior Kris Russell back in the lineup but knows his body has taken a pounding, so he’s probably looking for a No. 6 not a No. 7 guy.
