New lines are also out, and it looks like Jesse Puljujarvi will replace Ryan McLeod on the second line, with McLeod moving to the key spot of third line centre, Kris Russell is in at third-pairing defence for Philip Broberg, and Mike Smith is getting the start in net.

Broberg has been sent to the AHL, with Russell taking his roster spot and Puljujarvi taking Benson’s roster spot.

Kane – McDavid – Yamamoto

Hyman – Draisaitl – Puljujarvi

Foegele – Shore – Ryan

Archibald – McLeod – Kassian

Malone

Nurse – Ceci

Keith – Bouchard

Russell – Barrie

Lagesson – Broberg

Smith Koskinen

1. Many fans (including me) will not agree with Mike Smith getting another start, as opposed to the team going with Stuart Skinner. Smith has struggled in repeated starts. Skinner has outplayed him. It’s evident Smith could use time in the American Hockey League to get his health and his game in order, but that’s evidently not Edmonton’s plan. Of course, just because fans like me don’t like the. move, and just because Smith has repeatedly failed to come through this season, does not mean things can’t work out this time. After all, Smith played great hockey last season. Maybe this time he’ll step up. Or maybe this time Lucy will again pull away the football at the last second.
