For Edmonton, anyway.
Like clockwork, in five straight playoff appearances, the Oilers came come face-to-face with Dallas and that was the end of their season.
So, maybe it’s fitting that as the Oilers prepare for what they hope is the dawn of a new era, one of their final hurdles is a late-April test against their former nemesis.
And maybe those 60 convincing minutes are a sign of what’s to come.
The Oilers ran their record to 9-1-1 in their last 11 games by pumping the visitors for 40 shots in the first 40 minutes of a 5-2 victory Wednesday at Rogers Place.
“We were on our toes and rested, came out of the gate hot and all 11 forwards were going,” said head coach Jay Woodcroft. “We simplified our game and asserted our will.”
