The Chicago Blackhawks have reportedly thrown in the towel on this season and have informed other teams they are open for business. Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane and Seth Jones have been named the only untouchables and some big deals could be blowing out of the windy city before the Mar.21 trade deadline.

While the Dylan Strome’s and Marc-Andre Fleury’s of the world have been rumored all season long, it is surprising to hear Dominik Kubalik, Kirby Dach and Alex DeBrincat are available. All three are young forwards who have proven they can score in the NHL, especially Kubalik and DeBrincat.

Dach has yet to fully live up to expectations but he’s also 20 years old, while Kubalik is 26 and DeBrincat 24.  No doubt the Blackhawks would be expecting some mega-packages coming back the other way including high draft picks and top prospects.

Given the fact Jones, Kane and Toews are all veterans in their prime or towards the end of their prime, be curious to see if the Blackhawks re-tool as apposed to rebuild. Making these trade rumors even more interesting because of the options that present itself.

Expect to hear a number of teams linked to the Blackhawks including the Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs. While Dach, DeBrincat and Kubalik are going to be heavily pursued, so will goaltenders Kevin Lankinen and Fleury, along with Strome, Brandon Hagel, Connor Murphy and Jake McCabe. Blackhawks fans, you’re in for a treat these next six weeks, buckle up.
