According to a few reports, including one from ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, Charlie McAvoy is at PNC Arena. He has been cleared from NHL COVID-19 protocols and is expected to take the warmups with the Bruins ahead of their Game 5 matchup with the Carolina Hurricanes.

McAvoy showed up after being flown in on a private jet ahead of the game. Kaplan writes, “I was told Bruins ownership arranged a private jet for him to come to Raleigh, and he’s expected to take warmups.” Elliotte Friedman then reported what he knows if the McAvoy situation, which is that he “can play if he is five days from symptom onset, plus a negative test and medical clearance. Assuming symptom onset was last Thursday…he could be cleared to play.”

The belief is that McAvoy will play. Why would the Bruins go to all that trouble of flying him out to Carolina if he wasn’t going to get into the game? The two teams will then travel back to Boston for Game 6 where one team will have a chance to close the series out.

If McAvoy slots in, consider that a huge advantage for the Bruins as they’ve already turned the momentum in the series towards their favor.
