The Boston Bruins are pissed off and they may have a case. Thursday night’s contest with the Washington Capitals was everything as advertised as the game was intense from the opening puck drop. Two clubs who are likely to see each other in the postseason, the bad blood was on display all over the place. Bruins forward Brad Marchand ended up getting crunched by Capitals forward Garnet Hathaway and caused Marchand to leave the game as we reported on Thursday night.

The Bruins have taken exception to the hit. Hathaway received a two-minute interference penalty meanwhile Marchand ended up leaving the game with what looked like a shoulder injury. Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy spoke to the media after the game and was as honest as ever:

You hate to see March go down on a cheap hit. I didn’t like at all. … Seen that from that player in the past.

For now it’s not known how long Marchand will be out but if it’s a separated shoulder it could be several weeks. The pesky forward has been on an absolute tear of late, and has 43 points in 32 games on the season.
