While speaking to reporters, Dominik Kubalik stated that he would love to stay with the Chicago Blackhawks because they gave him the chance to play at the NHL level.

Kubalik has been one of the biggest names in the rumor mill from the Blackhawks. He is in the final year of his current contract and will still be a restricted free agent this summer. However, he is also only one year away from unrestricted free agency status, so Chicago does have a big decision to make.

Kubalik has been struggling a lot this season, as he has only 10 goals and eight assists in 49 contests. Keep in mind, he had 30 goals in 68 games as a rookie just two seasons ago and then followed that up with a 38-point campaign in 56 games last season. He is clearly capable of doing more than he is currently, but it just isn’t happening for the winger this campaign.

Yet, when looking at how recent his past success in the NHL was, there should still be several teams interested in Kubalik this deadline season. Thus, we will have to wait and see if the Blackhawks decide to keep or move him.
